One seminar or summer day in Ida-Viru County + three completely different experiences: a visit to the underground mine of the Eesti Kaevandusmuuseum, the Adrenaator quarry safari and a hike on the artificial hills with Alutaguse Matkaklubi. A total of 4 hours of adventure. Underground tour in a former mine (Eesti Kaevandusmuuseum) - 1 h 15 min We ride by train into a former oil shale mine, where underground passages open up, gigantic mining machines await and rooms that once saw continuous work are revealed. We'll learn how oil shale was actually extracted from the ground and under what conditions people earned their living. After returning to the surface, the whole surroundings suddenly become much more expressive — the landscape starts to tell its story. In addition, we will have a proper miner's lunch in the underground canteen. Aidu quarry safari (Adrenaator) - 1 h 15 min Then we pick up the pace! The Adrenaator quarry safari takes you in capable off-road vehicles to the most exciting spots in the Aidu quarry: steep slopes, piled embankments, channels filled with blue water and terrain that looks more like a distant planet than Estonia. The drive follows tracks you wouldn't normally access, and you'll feel speed, height and an adrenaline rush. Hike on the artificial hills (Alutaguse Matkaklubi) - 1 h 15 min The day ends with a walk on the artificial hills around the Eesti Kaevandusmuuseum. We'll get an overview of the different man-made hills: we hike on a shale-ash hill, observe semi-coke and ash heaps from a distance and talk about how and why they formed. The "playful" part of the trip is a fossil hunt — a paleo-adventure: we will examine the rocks found between the oil shale layers, search for fossils and try together to figure out what kind of ancient sea left its mark here.

Accommodations

Retro accommodation

Retro accommodation
The event experience doesn't have to end with the party or seminar. Eesti Kaevandusmuuseum offers the chance to extend the journey back in time and stay on the museum grounds in a unique retro accommodation. It's nostalgic in atmosphere but comfortably modern — an ideal lodging solution for summer days, team trainings, or participants of multi-day seminars. Authentic atmosphere: The building and interior carry Soviet-era industrial aesthetics and the everyday mood of miners, offering guests an amusing and exciting change from ordinary hotel rooms. Modern comforts: While the style is retro, the rooms and shared spaces provide all contemporary conveniences — modern washing facilities and a functional kitchenette. All of the team together: Retro accommodation allows event participants to stay compactly in one place. After the evening program you don't have to worry about transport — you can walk straight from the event hall to your room. Why choose retro accommodation when planning an event?
